A quick update. We have set up a dedicated page for The Walking Dead series, come take a look here. Initially starting off as a graphic novel about a small band of survivors trying to stay alive during a zombie apocalypse, it is now a popular TV show as well as a board game, and a spin off novel that the Monster Librarian has reviewed, The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor . Season 2 of the Walking Dead TV show starts Sunday October 16th on AMC. This is a great opportunity for librarians to showcase the zombie titles in their collection.
Moms vs. Zombies: End Times
What does it mean that in times of grief mothers turn to thoughts of the zombie apocalypse?
Okay, maybe not all mothers. Maybe just the ones in Indianapolis and the metro area.
A lot of us participated in a local online forum for moms which is now being shut down. And it’s amazing how many of our discussions have turned out to be about the apocalypse or what to do in case of zombie invasion. You might expect this in discussions about emergency preparedness, but it’s amazing how those zombies sneak in to conversations about crazy conspiracy theorist husbands and screaming toddlers. In fact, as things are winding down there, yet another person started a thread about zombies.
I told these fantastic, funny women that I’d leave a post here for them, just in case they ever need a place for their zombie fix. This is the place, ladies! Come visit us sometime! And let me know when you’re headed to Palm Springs…
Halloween Horrors! is here.
We here at MonsterLibrarian.com are pleased to announce the fifth annual “Halloween Horrors!” horror book review event. Starting on October 1, outstanding horror fiction review sites will come together to create a virtual guide to titles that will keep readers up at night.
“Halloween Horrors!” is an excellent way for librarians to get acquainted with horror genre titles both mainstream and small press. The event provides a tool to help librarians with reader’s advisory and collection development as well as become familiar with online review resources for what can be a challenging genre.
Each participating review site will have a project page dedicated to reviews of horror genre books that links to the other participating sites’ review pages. We will also be including a list of book recommendations that can be paired with horror movies to promote reading horror.
Participating sites in this year’s project include MonsterLibrarian.com, Horrorworld, Hellnotes, Horror Fiction Review, and Spooky Reads. Each site will be updating their page and reviews throughout the month so remember to visit often.
