Manga

We know Manga, like Anime is growing in popularity and less covered in formal library media. So we have created this index, similar to our Anime Crash Course, to help librarians better curate their collections which include manga.

  • Sundome by Kazuto Okada- Sundome is Japanese for “stopping the moment before” and literally refers to delaying ejaculation. These manga are exceedingly sexual and feature a 15 year old lead, so not a good addition for a public collection.
  • Zombie Powder  by Tite Kubo– Zombie Powder, is a Western-flavored tale starring Gamma, a chainsaw sword wielding ultra-criminal (as the good guy), super shooter, suit wearer C.T. Smith, and Elwood, a kid who wants to bring his older sister back from the dead. The trio faces down the gangs who run the world in a quest to gather the 12 Rings of the Dead, which are said to create zombie powder, concentrated life force which can return the dead to life or make the living immortal. Exciting and interesting, it also features Matrix-style violence and implied nastiness like rape and torture. Best for high schoolers. (I would rate the violence at a “Hunger Games’ level.)
