Dark Castle is a hidden gem available only online. In gorgeous images the author tells of a beautiful woman who finds herself in some kind of dark, possibly underworld realm inhabited by strange, dangerous creatures, with no memory of who she is and how she came to be there.
A spiritual successor to Labyrinth, with a touch more grown up feels, readers go on an journey with the female main character, knowing that the key to her leaving the realm is regaining her memory. However with such amazing characters she is befriending, one can’t help but feel a looming doom that has nothing to do with the predatory, dark creatures and dead that populate the castle and lands she now roams.
I didn’t even mind the slow nature of an online comic collection, with the gorgeous artwork and imaginative settings the author shares. The author hides behind a very secretive web presence, and the only flaw, if it can even be considered one, is that they aren’t an English first creative, so I have to wait for her to translate her comics before I can devour more.
Highly recommended and I am eagerly awaiting a print copy becoming available.
