The school is rocked when a lab announces a vaccine “cure” for the X-gene. Meanwhile a minor villain pops up in a cliche manner just in time to get the team back into the groove of things. Between defeating this wanna-be Magneto, Hank and the team investigate the cure and try to a certain who is behind it. Is it the first step in the forced removal of the X-gene, a way to neuter those born mutant? And how can Beast be a good role model for the kids, when he wants to be cured?
How can Scott be a good leader when he is a jerk to his coworkers, his supposed allies, and even his lover, Emma?
As a series kick off this has everything a reader wants; backstory angst, personality clash set ups, political intrigue, and prophecy. And Jean Gray coming back from the dead again? (Well, this is an X-men title.) Add to that the ridiculous likablility of Emma Frost, and the easy connection to Kitty (she has a dragon!!) and you’ve got the set up for an engaging series.
Recommended for public and private collections (and not just because the X-men has always been a favorite.)
