School is back in session and things are about to get more complicated. Scott and Allison are hiding their relationship from her parents (because they are werewolf hunters and Scott is the titular werewolf.) Jackson got himself bitten and is now super psyched to be all “I have the power *howl*”, until it doesn’t happen. Lydia is suffering some crazy visions after surviving her alpha werewolf bite but not turning. Scott’s boss is somehow in the know. Derek is recruiting a pack from teenage misfits. (Kids, becoming a werewolf doesn’t fix your problems.)
And Stiles…is still Stiles. Add, very human, absolutely adorable Stiles.
Allison’s grandfather comes into town, looking for retribution for his daughter’s death. (She killed werewolves for no reason. He doesn’t care that she was torturing and murdering people, after all, he does it too.) And some other not-werewolf is running around killing people. (OMG, most stories go to werecats way before they get int the reptiles! And they do a great job with this deadly beastie!)
While this season is plenty busy, with only a little exaggerated drama, things really come to a head in the last three episodes. My biggest frustration was Dark Allison, not because the girl doesn’t have the right to some rage, but because she should have been too smart t trust her grandfather in the first place.
Again, the Supernatural/Buffy vibe is strong as Scott’s “pack” expands, including more imperfect people who Scott still (warm squishes) thinks are worthwhile people. Definitely a fun watch, and the themes of a bunch of teens finally finding acceptance and support is very welcome.
